About

In one line

A horror RPG with one life, read to you.

In a paragraph

You inherit a cabin twenty-five miles past a town called Silverhead, and you have ten days before the third of October. Ashe & Granite is a horror RPG: you read it, a voice reads it with you, and you decide, and the deciding is not decoration. One life, no saves. When a life ends the book deals you a card, the painting on the front and the account of how it happened on the back, and the collection keeps every card you have found. Seventy-six endings are written and painted, forty-four of them deaths. Seventy-five keep you where you are. One does not, and nobody has found it.

In full

Nothing marks the right door. A door will tell you what it costs, in Anger or Fear, and sometimes its odds. It never tells you whether it was the one. You can walk past the thing that would have saved you and never learn it was there. Choices compound quietly: who you trusted on day two decides which doors exist on day nine, and the story keeps adjusting itself around the person you are turning into rather than the one you meant to be.

Fights happen for real. Bare hands are worth two dice, and whatever you are holding adds to the pool. Seven slots of armor, and every hit a piece turns costs it something, until the hit it cannot turn. The dice are real dice: they tumble in a felt trough at the foot of the table, every round, the full throw. Thirty-five things in this book will fight you. Kill one and it changes you.

Before any light is lit in the Ironsides there is a round room, and something in it. It wears a different coat every life. There is no way around it.

Two roads run the same ten days. Ashe Morrison, a mother out of Hollywood, Florida, at the end of a black year. Granite Wilson, a father out of the same town, at the end of the same year. One duffel each, twenty-one hundred miles to go. Neither road tells the same story.

You are not being punished for dying. You are filling a book.

The demo

The first act, free. Hollywood, Florida: one of four openings, either road, the Broadwalk, one place to go, and what is waiting when you come back out onto the pavers. Then the drive west and the last miles up the mountain to the cabin. Fully voiced, one life. Twelve of the book's deaths can be reached in it. It ends at bedtime, on the first night at the cabin.

How it was made

Ashe & Granite is made by one person with AI assistance. The story, the design, the art direction and the interface are Andre Bruni's. Most sentences were first drafted with an AI writing tool to his briefs and are revised by his hand. The paintings were generated and hand-finished. The narration is synthesized apart from the author's own voice, and it switches off in Settings.

Where it came from

Andre Bruni is a motion designer and a teacher of 3D and design software. He was born in Hollywood, Florida, where the book opens, and lives in Colorado, where it ends. StoryMaster is his own system for story-driven games: the engine, the plain-file story format and the Playbuilder he writes in, built to carry a new world in a new genre each time. Ashe & Granite is World One. Work began July 30, 2026; the free demo went up September 5, 2026.

Logos

Transparent PNGs. ASHE is charred wood with ember light breaking through, GRANITE is carved stone, and the brass ampersand between them is the player's choice. Please keep the three parts together.

The name is written Ashe & Granite, with the ampersand. The studio is StoryMaster Games, one word, capital S and capital M. Every title screen reads A STORYMASTER GAME.
